abidera
Terms of Service
By using Abidera you agree to these terms. They're written to be readable — no small print.
Last updated: April 28, 2026
1. Who these terms are with
These terms are an agreement between you and Aleks Meshkov, an individual developer based in Portugal, who operates Abidera (“Abidera,” “we,” “us”). They cover the Abidera iOS app and the website at abidera.com.
If you don't agree to these terms, don't use Abidera. If you do use Abidera, you're agreeing to them.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Abidera. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
3. Your account
You're responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your Apple ID secure — that's your key to the app. Tell us quickly if you think someone else is using your account.
4. Acceptable use
Don't:
- Use Abidera for anything illegal.
- Try to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our lesson content or code.
- Scrape the app or abuse the AI features to generate bulk content.
- Upload documents or photos that contain other people's personal data without their consent.
- Share your account credentials with others to avoid paying.
- Resell access to Abidera.
We can suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.
5. Subscription Terms (EULA)
Abidera Premiumis an auto-renewing subscription sold through the Apple App Store. The terms below are in addition to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies.
Subscription plans
- Monthly: month-to-month access to Abidera Premium.
- Yearly: annual access to Abidera Premium.
The App Store displays the current local billing terms before purchase. Taxes may apply depending on your region.
Auto-renewal
Your subscription automatically renewsunless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price shown at the time of purchase (or the price we've notified you of, for any future price changes).
How to cancel
You can cancel at any time. On your iPhone, go to:
- Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Abidera → Cancel Subscription.
You'll keep access to premium features until the end of your current billing period. Apple also publishes the full cancellation guide at support.apple.com/HT202039.
Refunds
Refunds for App Store subscriptions are handled by Apple under their standard policy. To request one, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. We don't refund partial billing periods directly, but if you're in the EU, your statutory consumer rights apply (see Section 13).
Upgrades, downgrades, and plan changes
If you switch between monthly and yearly plans, Apple handles proration. The change takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle unless Apple applies an immediate upgrade credit.
6. License to use the app
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to use the Abidera iOS app on Apple devices you own or control, subject to these terms and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. The app itself, its lesson content, code, and design remain our property (or the property of our licensors).
7. Your content
Documents, photos, and text that you upload to Abidera stay yours. You grant us a limited license to process that content solely to deliver the app's features (translation, decoding). We don't claim ownership, we don't republish it, and we don't use it to train AI models.
8. AI-generated output
Translations, summaries, and explanations generated by the AI features are best-effort. They can be wrong, especially for legal, medical, or financial documents. Don't rely on Abidera as the only source of truth for important decisions — if something matters, get it reviewed by a qualified person.
9. Disclaimers
Abidera is provided “as is.” We don't guarantee the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will help you reach a specific level of Portuguese proficiency. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Abidera and its operator aren't liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law — including liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or consumer rights you have under your local law.
11. Termination
You can stop using Abidera at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting the app. We can suspend or terminate your access if you break these terms, if we're required to by law, or if we need to shut down the service.
12. Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Disputes will be handled by the courts of Lisbon, except where mandatory consumer protection law gives you the right to bring a claim in your own jurisdiction.
13. EU consumer rights
If you're a consumer in the European Union, nothing in these terms affects the mandatory consumer rights you have under EU or your country's national law, including the right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days. If you download digital content that starts performing before the 14-day window ends (e.g., by starting your subscription), you acknowledge that your right of withdrawal ends once performance begins. You can also use the EU's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
14. Apple-specific terms
You and we acknowledge that these terms are between you and Abidera, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Abidera. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you can notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (where applicable); to the maximum extent allowed by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple isn't responsible for product claims, consumer protection issues, intellectual property infringement claims, or legal compliance regarding the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
15. Changes to these terms
If we materially change these terms, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and notify you in the app or by email where appropriate. Continued use of Abidera after a change means you accept the revised terms.
