Common questions
How does Abidera Premium work?
Some Abidera content is included with download. Abidera Premium unlocks full access to premium missions, Decode, Translate, and Vocab features through an in-app subscription managed by Apple.
Current plan options and local billing terms are shown inside the app before purchase.
You can manage or cancel your subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Abidera. Your access stays active until the end of the current billing period.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your iPhone:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Abidera.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
You'll keep premium access until the end of your current billing period. Apple's full guide is at support.apple.com/HT202039.
I was charged but my subscription isn't working.
Open Abidera, go to your profile, and tap Restore Purchases. This syncs your App Store subscription state with the app. If that doesn't work, email us with your Apple ID email and a screenshot of the receipt, and we'll sort it out.
How do I get a refund?
All App Store subscription refunds are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you're in the EU and have statutory consumer rights, let us know at support@abidera.com and we'll help you through it.
The document decoder isn't reading my photo correctly.
Try these, in order:
- Make sure the document is well-lit and in focus.
- Take the photo straight-on rather than at an angle; crop out anything that's not the document.
- For multi-page documents, upload the PDF version instead of separate photos.
- If the document has handwriting or very small print, AI accuracy drops. You can still translate it, but double-check important details.
If it still isn't working, email us the document (with any private info redacted) and we'll debug it.
Can I use Abidera offline?
Core lessons and phrase packs work offline once downloaded. The AI translator and document decoder need an internet connection since they process your input in real time.
How do I delete my account and data?
Email support@abidera.comfrom the address linked to your account and ask for deletion. We'll confirm, then erase your data within 30 days (except records we're legally required to keep, like purchase history for tax reasons).
Cancel your subscription first(see above) — deleting your account doesn't automatically stop billing, because Apple handles subscriptions.
Why is Abidera only in European Portuguese?
Because we're building the app for people actually living in Portugal. Brazilian Portuguese is a different beast — different vocabulary, different pronunciation, different cultural context. We don't want to teach you a Portuguese that gets a confused look from your neighbour in Bairro Alto.
